Acceptable Use Policy
Effective: 28 September 2026 · Version: 2026-09-28
This policy is part of the Terms of Service. Every Sellly store sells through WhatsApp, so Meta's WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy and Commerce Policy apply too. Where Meta's rules are stricter, Meta's rules apply.
1. You may not sell
- Anything illegal where you or your customers are, or anything you don't have the licences to sell.
- Alcohol, tobacco and nicotine products (including e-cigarettes), drugs, drug paraphernalia, prescription medicines, and supplements Meta's Commerce Policy prohibits.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives, and their parts.
- Animals, animal parts or products from endangered species.
- Adult products or services, and sexual content.
- Gambling, betting, lotteries, and games of skill played for money.
- Financial products and services (loans, crypto, investments, insurance), money transfers, and gift cards or vouchers resold for cash value.
- Counterfeit goods, or goods that infringe anyone's trademark, copyright or design.
- Documents, IDs, certificates, reviews, followers or accounts.
- Hazardous materials, recalled products, or products unsafe for their stated use.
- Medical devices or health treatments with unproven claims.
- Anything else Meta's Commerce Policy prohibits.
2. You may not use Sellly to
- Pretend to be another business, a bank, a government body, a payment app or any person, including in your store name, logo or messages. Store names that use such names are checked by our team before going live.
- Collect payments for goods you don't intend to deliver, or run advance-fee, refund, lottery, job or investment scams.
- Ask customers for card numbers, UPI PINs, OTPs, passwords, Aadhaar numbers or other identity documents through the store or chat.
- Send messages people didn't ask for, buy or scrape phone numbers, or message people who asked you to stop.
- Harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone, or publish hateful, violent or sexual content.
- Upload malware, or links to malware or phishing pages.
- Access another merchant's data, probe or test Sellly's security (except under our vulnerability disclosure policy), overload the Service, or get around limits, including by creating many accounts or stores.
- Resell or white-label the Service without our written agreement.
- Break any law, including consumer-protection, data-protection, tax, food-safety and advertising law.
3. What we do
We may remove content, pause a store, suspend an account or report to the authorities, as the Terms describe. Where a store puts customers at immediate risk (phishing, fraud) we act first and explain afterwards. When we take a store down, we keep its records and account details for 180 days, or longer if an authority asks, as the IT Rules 2021 require.
4. Reporting
Anyone can report a store from the "Report this store" link at the foot of every store page, or by writing to our Grievance Officer: write to [email protected] (the Grievance Officer's name is published here before public sign-ups open). We acknowledge reports within 24 hours and aim to act within 72 hours. Court and government orders are handled within the time the law sets.
